The latest revelation about Senator Mike Duffy is that he demanded to be made a Minister Without Portfolio so he could earn more money, have a car and driver befitting someone of his massive ego and stature. No one in Ottawa has a greater sense of entitlement than Duffy.
I was the first to rip into this partisan ball washer's record after he was appointed a senator. A man lacking the most common decency. CTV should have been embarrassed to call this conservative shill a journalist. I called him out at the very beginning and I was proven right. I was way ahead of the story and I'm taking full credit.
I bet CB $20 that Mayor Ford will not serve out his term. We are now at 5 staff members resigning, plus the World Exclusive that By-Law Boy has hung up his cape until the Mayor is out of office.
Ford's bully brother Doug is even scaring away the Hudak Conservatives. That takes some doing.
Our incompetent Insurance Defence lawyer disguised as a Finance Minister has come out swinging against new taxes to pay for Toronto area transit. Typical conservative that wants subways but has no plan to pay for them. If the Federal government didn't take $10B in revenues away from Toronto every year we would not have to come up with new taxes.

Harper's Senate
The same senate committee that whitewashed the first investigation into Senator Duffy's expenses has been charged with reopening the file. Why would we expect a result that does not protect the Harper government this time?
Now we hear from senior retired members of the RCMP that the force is so politicised that they dare not sneeze without authority from Minister Vic Toews office. This is the same force that opened an investigation against Liberal Ralph Goodale during the election, only to drop the charges after the Conservatives won.
Senate Majority Leader Marjorie LeBreton, Brian Mulroney's personal cheerleader before hitching her wagon to the Harper train, has zero credibility with the general public. Her slavish devotion to her Dear Leaders is so all consuming to blind her to any duty to country first.
The robocall scandal proves the sickly Harper regime has no respect for democracy. Add this to the attack ads and using taxpayers money to purchase ads promoting the governments agenda and we have a government out of control. Harper is unfit to be Prime Minister of Canada.

3 Boat Licenses
I obtained the final of my 3-boat licenses today. The Toronto Harbour License with the able assistance of Humber College. This last license included a "road test" as well as multiple choice exam. Needless to say I was worried about the road test but 2+ hours of personal training on the test boat took care of that issue.
I was able to practise parking, the most difficult aspect of power boating. The boat was smaller than mine but the fundamentals are the same. It is a slow process and progress is incremental but I'm getting a bit better. I'm hoping I get the basics down as the temperatures heat up in the summer.

Mayor Ford, Crack & The Toronto Sun
If you were to only read the Toronto Sun you would scarcely know that our mayor was caught on camera smoking crack. You would have minimal knowledge that Toronto Sun Lobbyist, sometime Senator, Mike Duffy was caught stealing money from the taxpayers only to be bailed out by PM Harper's personal valet Nigel Wright.
I'm shocked by the number of of people I know, of the right wing persuasion, that refuse to believe that the video of Ford is real. The normally talkative, serial liar, Ford has gone to ground since the scandal broke. He has cancelled his radio show and all appearances.
Ford knows what clear thinking people know, that he was caught smoking crack. His career is over. Ford will soon be sharing a jail cell with equally ample sized Mike Duffy.
I have said this many times, if you are falsely accused of a heinous crime you should offer to take a lie detector test. Ford wont take the test because he knows he was smoking crack cocaine in the video.

Mike Duffy Wont Like Prison Food
I have written many times in this Blog that Mike Duffy is unworthy of any governmental appointment. He was a hyper partisan "journalist" in a job that required neutrality by its very definition. His slavish devotion to Harper's Conservatives won him his senate seat. He was a man with a fundamental lack of decency and integrity. Perfect traits for a Harper appointee.
Duffy has been exposed as man that has made numerous expense claims for which he is not entitled reimbursement. His defence was ignorance and confusion. He has lived in Ottawa for decades and yet claimed housing expenses because his principal residence was a shack in PEI. He claimed expenses for working in Ottawa while on vacation in Florida. He threw his assistant under the bus over that lie. Duffy billed the taxpayer for senatorial work while campaigning for his benefactor Harper.
Duffy was held out as a model senator because he promptly paid back his expenses after he was caught making inappropriate expense claims. A firing offence in the private sector. He lied again about the source of the funds. It turns out that Harper's loyal bag carrier Nigel Wright cut Duffy a personal cheque for $90,000.
If you only read the Toronto Sun you will scarcely know about the scandal surrounding Duffy. The newspaper that gleefully attacks Liberals from all angles is silent on Ottawa's current scandal du jour. It turns out that Duffy has been inappropriately lobbying those close to the independent body, CRTC to have Sun TV forced onto Canadians basic cable package. An amateurish TV station that averages fewer than 8,000 viewers at anytime would be force fed to a reluctant nation. TV welfare payments to the defender of free enterprise. Duffy has bought silence from Sun Media.
If all the false expense claims to date were not enough it has been alleged that Duffy expensed Conservative riding associations and the party for campaigning during the last election at the same time claiming expenses from the taxpayer as a senator for the same trip. In the private sector that is called fraud and leads to jail time. I get a sense that Duffy will not like prison food.
Only in Canada would a person of Duffy's lack of character be given a government job with a generous salary and pension for loyal ass kissing, while pretending to be an independent journalist. That Duffy's obvious lack of integrity and sense of personal entitlement will likely help bring this government down is sweet justice.

Last Minute Prep
I paid my first visit to the marina today to pick up my parking and entry passes. I also took advantage of the visit to get an idea of how much room I would have in and around the slip. My boat will be tied up next to the impressive looking white Doral in the photos below. I feel bad for that guy in many ways, at least until I figure out what am doing.
I was impressed with the width of the slip. The piling in the middle of the entrance way may be a bit of problem. I also took a couple of photos of the passage way from the entrance of the marina to the slip. This is wider than I expected.
I previously purchased a Fitbit Flex. A new sports wristband that tracks your steps, mileage and sleep patterns. It costs $99US. So far looks good.
I thought Brian "paper bags full of money" Mulroney negotiated a Free Trade Agreement with America which evolved into NAFTA? In the past week I purchased two items from USA for a total of less than $200US. I was charged an additional $90 in duties. That is not free trade!

Could be in the Water in Next Week
The much anticipated launch of The Boat could be next Tuesday.
I received confirmation of delivery date for next week, barring unforeseen complications.
I am excited yet nervous about the launch. It looks as though sea trials and maiden voyage will take place from Mississauga launch to Toronto. A couple of days of mid-week practise followed by long weekend party.
Photos to be posted next week.

Kathleen Wynne Should Resign & Call an Election
When the Toronto Star's lead editorial rips your performance in the Gas Plant fiasco, it it time to resign as premier. The Toronto Star is the defacto newspaper of the Liberal party in Canada, in the same way that the National Post and Sun newspaper chains are Conservative mouth organs. When a Liberal leader loses The Star, they lose all credibility.
Rather than apologise to Ontarians over the $600,000,000 and counting political decision to shut down gas plant construction in Oakville and Mississauga, Wynne said she was sorry the Liberals were in this mess.
Wynne refuses to criticise her old boss McGuinty. Wynne can't figure out that the taxpayers of Ontario were the victims of a purely political decision to save a couple of seats in an election. A decision that could end up costing close to a $Billion.
All governments of every political party throw money around ridings to help with re-election. It is unfortunate but how politics work in this country. Harper was rightly criticised when he spent $70M in Muskoka to prop up the despicable Tony "Milhouse" Clement but when the bill reaches $600M we enter an all new territory.
Wynne does not seem to understand the magnitude of this scandal. She believes that the Liberal Party are the victims of a political decision in which the costs spiralled out of control. They didn't know it would cost this much therefore they too were victims. This attitude is a failure of leadership, decency and perspective.
It is time for the NDP and Conservatives to bring down this government and let the people of Ontario pass judgement.

Fold the TFC Franchise
Toronto Football Club (TFC) lost 6-0 to Montreal Impact tonight on the second leg of Canadian Championship matchup. In TFC's 7th season they have played 8 games and won 1 of those matches.
In the history of the MLS league no team, other than TFC, have went more than 3-years without making the playoffs. TFC will miss the playoffs for the 7th consecutive year.
Both Montreal and Vancouver expansion teams will have made the playoffs in their second year. Indeed Montreal is at the top of the table.
I am advocating that MLS revoke the Toronto franchise. Shut down the team for 2-3 years. Sell the franchise rights, at a discount, to a local owner willing to invest the time and effort to build a competitive team. Ban MLSE from owning the team.
There is a precedent when the NBA revoked the Cleveland Cavaliers from their owners and took over the team.
As an alternative the MLS could seize the franchise and hold it in trust, until they find suitable ownership. Either way MLSE should be striped of their franchise ownership before they single handily destroy this market for professional soccer.
