When the Toronto Star's lead editorial rips your performance in the Gas Plant fiasco, it it time to resign as premier. The Toronto Star is the defacto newspaper of the Liberal party in Canada, in the same way that the National Post and Sun newspaper chains are Conservative mouth organs. When a Liberal leader loses The Star, they lose all credibility.
Rather than apologise to Ontarians over the $600,000,000 and counting political decision to shut down gas plant construction in Oakville and Mississauga, Wynne said she was sorry the Liberals were in this mess.
Wynne refuses to criticise her old boss McGuinty. Wynne can't figure out that the taxpayers of Ontario were the victims of a purely political decision to save a couple of seats in an election. A decision that could end up costing close to a $Billion.
All governments of every political party throw money around ridings to help with re-election. It is unfortunate but how politics work in this country. Harper was rightly criticised when he spent $70M in Muskoka to prop up the despicable Tony "Milhouse" Clement but when the bill reaches $600M we enter an all new territory.
Wynne does not seem to understand the magnitude of this scandal. She believes that the Liberal Party are the victims of a political decision in which the costs spiralled out of control. They didn't know it would cost this much therefore they too were victims. This attitude is a failure of leadership, decency and perspective.
It is time for the NDP and Conservatives to bring down this government and let the people of Ontario pass judgement.
